Heads Up Guys Foundation
We envision a world where men make mental health a priority, and suicide is no longer a top 5 cause of death for men of any age.
Their story
HeadsUpGuys, based at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, is a digital health initiative focused on supporting men’s mental health, lowering suicide rates, and challenging the social stigma around depression. With more than 6.5 million visits from the US, UK, and Canada, the platform offers evidence-based and easy-to-access tools such as confidential screening assessments, self-guided recovery courses, practical self-care tips, and a global Therapist Directory. The organization is funded entirely by private donations and combines clinical expertise with real patient experiences to make its resources accurate, useful, and relatable. By avoiding corporate language and strict medical terms, HeadsUpGuys creates an inclusive, positive, and supportive space for everyone, always putting people’s well-being and public health first.
“The only thing more exhausting than being depressed is pretending that you are not.”
HeadsUpGuys has become the world’s most comprehensive resource for men’s mental health.
I lost a roommate from suicide a year and some months ago… After visiting HeadsUpGuys, I realized that depression is a huge problem and I improved my perception, not just not to judge but also to reach out and how to do that.

HeadsUpGuys inspires me because it avoids the cold, clinical approach and the silent shame that often surrounds male depression. Instead, it offers a straightforward digital lifeline. Rather than using passive awareness campaigns or empty phrases, it respects men’s dignity by providing practical, evidence-based tools like self-guided recovery courses, a global therapist directory, and real-life success stories that show vulnerability as both logical and strong. I am truly moved by their strong commitment to inclusivity and public health. They clearly reject divisive political agendas and Men’s Rights Activism, choosing instead to offer real, life-saving support that reaches men before they reach a crisis point.
